Our student-athletes are a beacon of everything good about college athletics, and they have chosen to compete here, at one of the top ten public universities in the country. Your support gives them that opportunity — the chance to not only succeed on the field but in life.

Individual Sport Giving

Invest in Heart.

Today 500 student athletes represent UCSB in athletics. That’s a healthy number for any Division I program and every day these incredible student-athletes provide a window into a remarkable university. These Gauchos are driven by one common thing – heart.

Heart succeeds in the classroom at one of the nation’s premier institutions; Heart enables them to collectively give over 5,000 hours to the community each year; Heart plays in front of little boys and girls watching in the stands.

And heart wins championships.

The mission of the Gaucho Fund is to provide resources for a life-changing educational opportunity for today’s student-athletes. Your donation is in an investment into their drive to succeed, grow, and reach goals.

As a highly visible arm of a vibrant university gifts supporting UCSB Athletics are part of the campus’ successful Campaign for UC Santa Barbara. All gifts are made through the UCSB Foundation, a 501(3)(c) organization, and are tax deductible. Additionally, some contributors may qualify for corporate matching gifts through their employers and every gift helps student-athletes succeed today.

Heart, a wonderful investment.

Thank you,

Mark W. Massari

Director of Intercollegiate Athletics

OVERVIEW

Baseball

All In. The Gaucho 9

In baseball ‘9’ is symbolic for having every position, every player, “all-in”. That’s exactly what we mean by the Gaucho9. Having donors, alumni and the community behind us is why we wear it on the back of our hats. We play for everyone. Under head coach Andrew Checketts, the Gauchos returned to NCAA Regional play for the first time in 12 years. Establishing a winning culture in every phase of our program is essential to achieve the postseason expectations we have. Within the Big West Conference, baseball is tough, talent driven and competitive nationally. Programs have the desire to get to Omaha, Nebraska, — the perennial home of the College World Series. That’s our goal and the Gaucho9 is the foundation to achieve it by providing funding for scholarships and resources to compete at the highest level. Winning involves everyone.

  • YOUR GIFT MAY RECEIVE RECOGNITION ON THE WALL OF HISTORY WITHIN THE NEW GAUCHO PARK ENTRANCE WHEN COMPLETED.
  • Gifts are tax deductible and support baseball scholarships, program resources and student-athlete services.
  • Living Scholars (gifts of $5,000 and above annually) offers a priceless connection by pairing donors and student-athletes.

OVERVIEW

Men’s Soccer

Passion United

There’s something about record crowds. Maybe it’s the headlines, the energy created or just the fact that the Gauchos own the top five NCAA record crowds of all time. And we mean own them! A National Championship united a campus and sparked a community who support these young men who take the pitch on spectacular Santa Barbara nights. With NCAA consecutive appearances numbering into the double digits, competing at the highest level is a staple of Head Coach Tim Vom Steeg’s program. These young men from diverse backgrounds unite as Gauchos and represent the competitive university we are today. Your gift ignites that passion.

OVERVIEW

Swimming & Diving

Deep Success

We have three standing goals in swimming and diving: to support today’s talented Gauchos with the resources it takes to set records, win meets, and drive towards that

big program changer, which is the new aquatics center. In our proud athletics history, arguably the most successful programs across the decades have been the men and women of Gaucho swimming. Decades of league championships, All Americans, NCAA qualifiers, Olympians and tremendous students in the classroom have made success in the water a staple of being a Gaucho.

Equally as important is what our future new aquatics center will mean to our future success. It will provide our aquatics student-athletes the facilities they need to succeed at the highest level and it will provide our campus and alumni the first class venue we deserve. Please consider a gift to assist today in providing our swimmers and divers the program resources necessary through the Gaucho Fund. And please consider a program changing gift to our future aquatics facility project so we can ensure more records are broken and life long memories created in the water.

Ways to Give

Whether it’s sport specific or to the general fund, your donation to the Gaucho Fund makes a huge difference in the lives of our student-athletes. Your support not only helps provide the actual scholarships they earn, but also ensures that they are provided with the best possible resources to have a chance to succeed in the classroom and on the court, field, or track. Your donation to the Gaucho Fund is a donation for opportunity.

LIVING SCHOLARS

Living Scholars

Within the Gaucho Fund is a priceless connection at the Living Scholar level, which pairs a student-athlete with a generous donor. Living Scholars ($5,000 and above annually) have the ability to be part of the opportunity they are actually providing.

For our student-athletes donors may become a friend, a home away from home and an example to these young Gauchos that giving is important at every stage of life. Donors may want to be anonymous to the student-athlete. Either way, Living Scholars are a vital part of the success stories that our student-athletes are today and will be tomorrow as well.

Encouraging Success

Encouragement can come from many sources: from a new head coach with a resume of NCAA’s, national rankings and success. Encouragement from friends, teammates and fans as you rally to victory on and off the court. And that much needed encouragement comes from your gift providing opportunity to achieve dreams on and off the court.

  • Gifts are tax deductible and support women’s tennis scholarships, program resources and student-athlete services.

OVERVIEW

Women’s Volleyball

Pioneer Program

We figured with Final Fours, Sweet Sixteen runs, Elite Eights and 27 straight NCAA tournament appearances, you can call yourself a storied program. Women’s volleyball at UCSB is one of the most successful programs on the west coast and nationally. The pioneering women of 1972-74 started this by playing in three straight Final Fours and we continued our run with All Big West players both academically and on the court, All Americans and legends led by driven coach who established winning on the court as a way of life for Gaucho volleyball. Now with new leadership with deep roots in Santa Barbara, a successful veteran coach begins a new era with that same winning mentality. When you support women’s volleyball through the Gaucho Fund you enable us to provide our student-athletes with the resources they need to succeed on the court and in the classroom. Keeping Gaucho volleyball’s high standards, both academically and in competition, in place takes resources and as history tells us, it’s a great investment.

OVERVIEW

Women’s Water Polo

It Started with Victory

The championships of tomorrow will be traced to a group of determined young women in 1989. It was then, empowered by nearly three decades of Title IX and the rising tide of water polo popularity, that this group claimed a National Championship. Your support fuels the drive for future polo players who will compete in the pool and in the classroom.

  • Gifts are tax deductible and support women’s water polo scholarships, program resources and student-athlete services.
  • Living Scholars (gifts of $5,000 and above annually) offers a priceless connection by pairing donors and student-athletes.
